4-H Dairy Cattle Judging Contest
DAIRY JUDGING WILL NOT BE HELD AT PASE FOR 2009 BUT INSTEAD AT THE 2009 NEBRASKA STATE FAIR.
Dairy Cattle Judging:
Superintendent: Tracy Behnken, Dodge County
Day, Time and Place: Sunday, September 6; Registration at 11:00 am contest immediately following registration - NEBRASKA STATE FAIR OPEN CLASS DAIRY BARN. Contest begins at approximately 11:30 am in the Open Class Dairy Barn on the Nebraska State Fairgrounds.
There are no age divisions in this contest. A team consists of 3 or 4 individuals with total scores of the three high individuals making the team score. The high scoring team will represent Nebraska at the National 4-H Dairy Cattle Judging Contest in Madison, Wisconsin. Individuals composing a team must be designated as such if they are to enter team competition. One or two individuals may be entered in lieu of a team. If members of the high scoring team are ineligible or unable to compete at the national contest, the next highest scoring individuals will be selected to complete the Nebraska team.
Contest Components: The contest will consist of five or six classes of dairy cattle. Classes may be any of the following breeds: Ayrshire, Brown Swiss, Guernsey, Holstein, or Jersey. Classes may consist of calves, heifers or cows. Contestants will give two or three sets of oral reasons.
